Psychometric Assessment

Understanding people and what makes them who they are, is a science that in the Western world has its origins with the early Greek philosophers. Hippocrates developed the notion of four basic temperamental types, sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic. This theory of personality types has evolved through the centuries with a considerable amount of modern theory having been developed during the 20th century.

Psychometric tests are designed to provide a partial assessment of certain human attributes. These include intellectual ability, specific aptitudes, interests, values and personality. Using such tests it may be possible to understand what it is that makes individuals what they are and what influences their individual differences.

To provide objective support to recruitment, individual development and teambuilding tests and Assessments may be used
  • to predict levels of ability and performance, or
    • assess personality types

It is important to choose the right test for the purpose for which it is to be used.

Any assessments employed by Hinkson Associates on behalf of clients will be used in conjunction with other sources of information in order to validate the findings of the assessment and tests will be applied according to the strict code of practice set out by the British Psychological Society.
